Errrhhglllghhlghh.......

I'm tired.

Wednesday night was the big premier/standing-in-line-party/riot for Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith. Two days later, and I'm still exhausted, trying to recover from the event. You wouldn't believe how many people showed up unless you saw it for yourself. When these people started showing up in tents last friday, I knew it was only going to get worse, but nothing could've prepared me for what it all actually amounted to at it's height. My shift was from 4:15pm to 12:15am, but I ended up staying later. For the first 5 hours I mainly did theatre checking, and stayed inside of the building, where it was suprisingly quiet. Later in the evening, at around 11 pm, Ben, Kyle and myself had the pleasure of admitting all 2,000 Star Wars fans into the buildng, who had just camped out anywhere from 18 hours to 5 days in our parking lot. I was surprised to see so many familiar faces from various places such as my current school, high school (people I haven't seen in almost a year), and even some high school teachers (Mr. Bailey, Ms. Catlyn (sp?) and Mrs. Neuman).
I did everything from theatre checking to building/maintenence inspection, crowd control, setting up/breaking down lines and caution tape, and even backing up concessions (the busiest concessions I've ever seen) for a period of about 45 minutes. At one point, every cash register at the concessions was open, and the line for each register stretched out of the doors of the building. From about 9pm onwards, I was literally running around for the rest of night trying to get certain taks accomplished, and I'm sure Ben and Kyle had even more fun dealing with the multitude of fans on the outside while we prepped on the inside. At around 12:30 am, after mass hysteria and dealing with 2000 rabid star wars fans, we clocked out and went in to actually watch the movie (for free, without having to wait days in a tent in a parking lot).

So what'd I think?

Well, forget everything you think about Eps 1 and 2. This story brings everything full story, provides the smoothest transistion from new to old I could possibly imagine, and almost even makes up for 1 and 2's mistakes. I've seen it twice since it opened, and it was better with a repeated viewing (perhaps because the second time watching I wasn't sore all over and dead tired). While not quite as well done as the original, as far as the quality of the plot, this new movie comes as close to the originals as possible. My only gripes come from a handful of cliche' lines here and there, and a 20 minute piece of movie in the center that could've easily been shortened to 15 and had the same effect. Otherwise, this is a great movie. It's what we've been waiting for since Return of the Jedi: another Star Wars movie that is actually quite impressive.

Go see it now.

(Just not at Edwards. We have enough people to deal with this weekend already.)

Let's Get This Party Started!

Today is May 5, and we all know what that means, right? No, not Cinco de Mayo.

Disneyland's 50th Anniverary celebration officially begins today. So everyon get down to disneyland if you get a chance, it's really looking snazzy right now.

Anyway, just had to make a note of that. July 17th will be my big freak out, when it is Disneyland's ACTUAL birthday, and we will be able to ride the newly reopened and revamped Space Mountain. But for now, let the celebration begin.

If, for any reason, any of you reading this is as interested in the 50th as I am, mouseplanet.com has continuous coverage of the events from the park.

Tuna Fleets, Tiny Tots and Pregnant Women

So... umm, yeah, I'm bored today. In my boredom, I found this weblog type survey thing while trying to access brytni's livejournal and ending up on her friends page and seeing this survey in another person's post, with the screenname of "bendystraw". I don't know who this is, but who ever you are bendable straw type person, I've stolen your lame music survey.

1. Total amount of music files on your computer?
662

2. The last cd(s) you bought was...
The Ring/Ring Two Soundtrack, the Chicago Soundtrack, the Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack

3. What was the last song you listened to before reading this message? -
Less Than Jake - "9th and Pine"

4. Write down five songs you often listen to or mean a lot to you.

1) Smash Mouth - Your Man
2) Seal - Love's Divine
3)
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
4) Disney - Tapestry of Nations
5) Aerosmith- Don't Want to Miss a Thing

5. What new music are you really excited for in the coming year so far?
Smash Mouth -
Old Habits
The Aquabats -
CHARGE!

6. Select "Party Shuffle" in iTunes and list the first 5 songs (or set it to list only 5 songs)
1) Me&My - "Fly High"
2) Disneyland Soundtrack - "Space Mountain"
3) Manfred Mann - "Blinded By the Light"
4) Queen - "Another One Bites the Dust"
5) Linkin Park - "Pushing Me Away"

So that's that. A temporary cure to my boredom. Now what? I guess I'll go play zelda or something. See you later.

Ps: I saw hitchikers for the 3rd time yesterday. Today is day 6 of having "so long..." stuck in my head.

Hi.

Well, looks like I'm once again broadcasting LIVE from the Mira Costa library! Ok, today is the 5th consecutive day that I've had the song "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish!" stuck in my head. The song is the theme song to the new Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie. A bunch of us at edwards made it a point to memorize this song (since we hear it multiple times throughout the day when the movie lets out), and now that I know most of the lyrics, it's become even more infectious. Of course, the fact that I've seen it twice since friday (and that I'm going to see it a third time today after school, and a 4th if Jessica is sick and can't come today, and possibly a 5th if anyone of my other friends like Pohl wants to come with me) probably isn't helping. "So long and thanks for all the fish! So sad that it should come to this! We tried to warn you all but, oh dear... You may not share our intellect, which may explain your disrespect, for all the natural wonders that grow around you... SO LONG SO LONG and thanks....for all the fish!"
Oh yeah, what did I think of this movie? Well, isn't it obvious?

Go see hitchhikers, RIGHT NOW.

I should also add this, for anyone interesting in the multiple new additions coming to Disneyland's Tomorrowland within the next three years:

"The real reason that the Imagineers are reportedly looking into bringing back the PeopleMover is that -- what with all of the new Tomorrowland shows that have either already been built (I.E. "Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster"), have yet to be officially announced (I.E. Space Mountain's new night-time only soundtrack, "Rockit Mountain"), are still in the process of being constructed (I.E. The new "Finding Nemo" version of the Subs) and/or are moving rather swiftly through WDI's developmental process (I.E. "Star Tours II" and the "Cars" -based retheming of Disneyland's Autopia) ... Well, the Imagineers are anticipating that by 2008, Disneyland 's Tomorrowland is going to have some very serious traffic problems. With most of the park's guests trying to cram their way into this very small portion of Disneyland in order to sample all of the new rides & shows.
So -- obviously -- some people-eating attraction have to be quickly added to this side of the theme park so that Disneyland can then better handle all of these additional bodies. So among the ideas that are currently being kicked around is -- yes -- bringing the PeopleMover back on line. As well as removing the Astro Orbitor from its current position at the entrance to Tomorrowland (to make it easier for guests to get into this part of the park) and then placing this ride on top of the PM's old loading station.
Mind you, this isn't the only idea that WDI currently has in the works. I think all you Douglas Adams fans out there will be pleased to hear that -- should the movie version of "
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" prove to be a hit (More importantly, inspire a sequel or two) -- that the Imagineers would then like to replace "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" with a brand new "Hitchhikers" inspired 3D movie.
Now I would imagine that even Marvin the paranoid android couldn't be depressed about news like that ..."

Bye for now.
