Why is it so early???

It's not even 6 freaking am. And wtf am I doing? BLOGGING? I should have slept in longer.

I'm about to leave for a six flags trip with a group of people from work, and I'm driving one of the cars, so I gotta go round up everyone. I'll bet Ben is not even awake yet.

You go ahead and enjoy your snooze, world! At least I'll be doing something more interesting.

An Oddity...

Today, when I went to AMPM for my lunch break, there were nothing but chicken sandwiches for sale in the food thing. And it's not like they were almost out of food and all that was left were a few chicken sandwiches. There were at least 20 of them. Just a whole food warmer filled with chicken sandwiches. Why? I'll never know. Dammit. I should have asked them why. A missed opportunity...

That will haunt me forever now.

Why the hell am I still up?

Ok so summer has started.

:: whoooo :::

Somehow I survived finals and the busy weeks of star wars mania at work, and things and slowing down and the rest of the summer should be cake compared to that.

I've already managed to get one disneyland visit under my belt for this summer, but for right now I'm at a temporary halt, as my annual pass expired on saturday and I'm still waiting for them to send my new one in the mail. The fact that my credit card has not yet been billed for the renewal is not very encouraging. Anyway, the trip was a very fun day with Lona (if I forget to mention her again, I'll get my throat slit). No really, it was a lot of fun. I got a chance to check out all the 50th anniversary shtuff I've been obsessively reading about over the last year, and it's all very impressive. The 50 hidden mickeys provides a nice little element of treasure hunt to the day, and some of them are very cleverly hidden. The several large photomosiacs scattered around the park are also very impressive, but sadly, none of my photo submissions were used (they are all comprised of submissions by park guests.) "The First 50 Magical Years" has moved into the Main St Opera House (formerly the home of "Great Moments with Mr Lincoln,") which is an exhibit showcasing several areas of Disneyland history, followed by a film narrated by Steve Martin and Donald Duck, which shows actually how the park came to be. Highlights of the walkthrough exhibit include the wall sized photomosiac made up of pictures of literally every attraction in the parks history, from the well known (Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, etc) to the obscure (Toy Story Fun House, Rocket Rods, the Gummi Bear boat ride, etc...), and also the 10 foot wide replica of Disneyland as it looked on opening day in 1955, with comparative park maps showing how the park evolved over time. I've going to cease my ramble about this wonderful exhibit and conclude by saying that should you plan on going to disneyland within the next year and a half, make this exhibit a priority, and give yourself plenty of time to look around the walkthrough before the film. It is best to visit this exhibit in the beginning of the day so you don't forget, and because it sets up the rest of the day very nicely. But enough about "...50 Magical Years"...
The fireworks.... holy crap....the fireworks....
They can best be described in this fashion:

"OMG OMG OMG OMG HOLY CRAP OMG #%JRFIW$TGIWIJBIJDOIHBD!!!!!!!!!!111"

I really don't need to say very much more about this show. It's the best freaking fireworks show I've ever seen in my life. I'm not exaggerating. This hsould be your reason for going. Get to the central hub (the area in front of the castle where all the lands branch out) an hour before the show starts, and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A CLEAR VIEW OF THE CASTLE. I cannot stress how important it is that you be in this area and have a clear view of the castle for this show. At least half of the shows special effects and themeatic elements can only be seen in this area, and that is also not an exaggeration. You probably don't think this show can be that great. Just a fireworks show, right? Trust me, take the advice. You'll thank me later.

Anyway, at the moment, thats about the extent of the 50th anniversary offerings at the moment, aside from Block Party Bash at DCA (a silly new parade based on pixar peoples), and a few new surprises in the jungle cruise. Later is when we get the REAL birthday present: Space Mountain. It's scheduled to open on july 15, but I'm reading rumors of soft openings possibily starting on 4th of july weekend, so for anyone interesting (if anyone actually reads this, for that matter), keep that in mind.

So now that I just wrote much more than I planned on just the topic of Disneyland alone, on to other things. Hmm... well the summer movie season has started, which makes me happy. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is very worth seeing, if only just because Angelina Jolie is gorgeous. Thankfully there are plenty more reasons as to why it was a great movie. We get Batman this Friday, and it looks promising. Also, I've seen Star Wars a total of 5 times now. Just thought that was noteworthy.

In an unrelated note, there was an interesting taco incident a couple weeks ago. I'm not going to go into full details, but I was at Ben's house with Kyle the other night, we were watching tons of invader zim via my brand new invader zim complete series box set, they were drinking, they decided it would be a good idea to get tacos, I decided to drive them to Jack n the Box to buy 18 of them ($10 goes a long way) while blasting techno music down melrose, Ben decided to throw my pants out the window (which is as far as I'll comment on that), I decided to make him go get them on the returning ride home, kyle decided to do who knows what, and it all pretty much resulted in me wiping a taco off my windshield with my windshield wipers, large taco stains on the sides of both mine and bens cars, more invader zim, and mass indigestion.

And with that, I'd say that summer has started off on the right foot. Got plans for six flags with a big group of people from work, probably wild rivers with my sisters, ten bajillion more trips to disneyland, and all the aquabats I can listen to (or jump around like an idiot to at their concert in july.) Now it's officially late. Goodnight.

ps: The Aquabats just released their fifth album, called "CHARGE!". It's worth a listen. Buy it. Or call me up. Maybe I'll copy it for you. Maybe.
