I've done some thinking today (a dangerous pastime, I know,) and I've discovered something about myself. I would rather have the worst nightmare than a wonderful dream. Most people would seem to prefer sweet dreams over nightmares, but I hate waking up to a dream like that and coming to the realization that my life isn't as great as what I just thought was real a few moments prior. When I wake up from a nightmare, it makes me realize how great my life really is, no matter how much crazy shit I have to deal with, and I appreciate things that much more. I would rather start my day with that realization than disappointment.
Not too much of a difficult concept to understand, but what surprises me is that I've always felt like the type of person that would rather seek a world of fantasy than deal with real problems. After all, I don't believe in dragons.
But this, in some small way, grounds me in reality. Maybe that part of me has always been there... maybe I'm growing up? Who knows...
Fortunately, most of my dreams are neutral, and by that I mean that don't make any sense at all. And that is something I can understand.

To-Do List
Writing it down is the only way I'll keep it straight.
- Meet with film group to decide when to film/edit our student film.
- Film/edit said student film before next Monday.
- Meet with Blood Bank lady on Wednesday morning to set up Narnia blood drive event.
- Meet with bowling alley manager to arrange Narnia cross-promo details.
- Meet Spencer from Spanish class to finish writing script for final project.
- Record and edit said Spanish project.
- Study for exams.
- Catch up on all homework due on exam day.
- Meet with group from theories of art in cyberspace class to plan and rehearse a digital avatar performance themed to Captain Planet.
- Perform said performance.
- Prepare/rehearse a research paper and debate on the positives of art created in cyberspace.
- Meet with Vince and Josh on Tuesday to plan for summer crowds/Iron Man midnight.
- Work on super-secret film project with Vince.
- Finish editing trebuchet film.
- Find a face painter for the Narnia fair.
- Meet with schools and churches for Narnia promo.
- Find at least 3 more off-site business partners for promo.
- Find more activities/vendors for the fair.
- Pray that the colorbook and archery set I've ordered online arrive in time for the fair.
- Drive to Chula Vista to pick up a bounce house.
- Drive to La Jolla to pick up tables and chairs from Ryan's church for the fair.
- Contact NarniaWeb's webmaster to hammer out cross promo details.
- Contact Tikva to request promotional materials for Narnia.
- Find a media projector for event day.
- Continue to look for Film Festival sponsors.
- Be careful not to ignore the people I care about.
- Keep personal demons at bay for the time being.
For most of these, I have until May 16th to get it all done. For some, I have even less time.
I cannot wait for June 9th. By then the book for Narnia will have been turned in, most if not all of this will have gone away, and I'll be able to focus on ridding myself of those personal demons I speak of. But before I do that, I think I'm going to escape to San Francisco for a week to visit Liz. It will be good to get away.
Keep moving forward.

Note(s) to Self
"Rational thought is a failed experiment and should be phased out." - W.S. Burroughs
"The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer-- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer." - Ken Kesey
If you believe in me, how can I be dissolving? Come on, let's role...
Silence, can you hear me?
The role of the artist is to put things where they don't belong.

I'm in a state of shock, but it's something new...
"I've Got Some Falling To Do" - Music by Neil Cicierega, animation by Andrew Kepple - the greatest creative duo our generation has ever seen.
Probably my favorite flash file on the net, it's message being increasingly relevant as time goes by.

Life
"If there were someone who knew everything about the universe, every answer to every question, undeniable, absolute truth, and if that person knelt down and whispered in your ear that there was no God, and you changed anything about the way you live, you are living for the wrong reasons."
This is something someone told me this week. It's one of the more insightful things I've heard recently. More on this later, once I've thought some more about my own place in the universe...

April Fools
I like this holiday more and more each year, mainly because more and more of my favorite websites take part in it. Typically, of all the websites I check on a daily basis, there'll be 2 or 3 sites that have a prank of some kind. This year, a whole 8 sites have done something for the holiday. I hope this trend continues.
The most elaborate of this year's was posted on both IGN and Rotten Tomatoes: a trailer for the "upcoming" Legend of Zelda movie. A lot of work was put into this for just a prank- enjoy.
Westcoaster.net also had a pretty good prank- they converted their entire site into "Wes' Toaster", a site dedicated to the daily activities of a toaster.
