Odd Harry Potter Dream...

The dream began from a transition from another dream I was having prior, of which I can't remember the details, but somehow I wound up in a Christian bookstore, sitting on a white, carpeted spiral staircase surrounded by books. It was actually a pretty cool looking bookshelf arrangement. Anyway, I'm not sure why I was there, but I was sort of browsing around the books when I happened upon a Harry Potter book (Half Blood Prince) on the shelf. I thought it odd that there was a Harry Potter book in a Christian bookstore because of the witchcraft/black magic controversy. Anyway, I looked around some more and noticed that Harry Potter books were in several other places in the store. I then saw the 7th book, The Deathly Hollows. It had a black cover with an illustration drawn in white on the cover, but I can't remember what it was. For some reason, instead of becoming immediately excited, purchasing it, and leaving to read the book, I flipped to the last chapter. JK Rowling has gone on the record saying that the last chapter of the last book was to be an epilogue, stating what would happen to the surviving characters of the series later in life. Knowing this, I was curious to read the ending (thus spoiling the series, something which goes against my nature, but I digress.)

The chapter began by describing Voldemort sitting on a beach in the Carribean and sipping a cocktail, as cities collapsed and burned to the ground. It went in to graphic detail describing how, after the dark wizard naturally defeated Harry in battle, he used magic to fashion Harry's lungs into a new organ on his own body; one that would constantly keep applying sun tan lotion on his skin while he sunbathed in the midst of all the chaos and desolation. It later went on to tell that almost all of the good wizards from the series had died during the last battle. The ones who survived went into hiding and lived a life of despair. The only character who lives a semi-normal life after the series is Hermione, who did the only rational thing there was to do, which was give up witchcraft all together and begin to lead a magic-less life among the muggles. Ultimately, the moral of the Harry Potter series was that witchcraft and magic is evil and unholy, and that pursuing an interest in such only leads to bad outcomes. I suddenly realized why Harry Potter had appeared in a Christian bookstore overnight, timed with the release of the final book. I could not believe what I was reading. Years of following the series resulted in such a depressing ending.

I don't remember much about what happened after I read the final chapter of book seven, but the dream stuck with me for most of today, so I felt as if I should share it with people.

Progress...

Yes, I'm still working on the website. No, it's not finished yet, nor has it been finished in the time I estimated. But the point is that I am working on it, and I think it's turning out quite nicely. The new design will give me a bit more freedom, so hopefully I won't get bored with it as quickly and decide to delete the whole thing, as is what usually tends to happen.

I could really go for a breakfast burrito right now.

The Death of a Fravit...

...well ok, not really. This site has been temporarily put into cryonic freeze for the time being. It's unlikely that anyone out there is actually reading this, and that's to be expected since I've purposely let this website die over the past year. However, I felt as if an explanation was needed in case someone actually WAS reading.

At any rate, Fravit Net will be back, though not in it's original form. Expect some things to be slightly tweaked upon it's reopening, with new sections, crappy stuff deleted, new crappy stuff to take its place, and *maybe* some new flashes (and by "new" I mean "stuff I finished a few months ago but never bothered publishing because I was killing the website.") I'd like the site to be a bit more practical that its predecessors, while at the same time actually offering REAL CONTENT to hold your interest.

Right now I'm enrolled in a flash class and an HTML class at Miracosta, and the final projects for both classes are a website of some kind. I may try and integrate my new fravit project with both of these classes, but if not, I will definitely use the projects to get a good start. So earliest opening date.... I'd say mid June. To be more realistic, though, I'd say probably August or September. If you haven't figured this out already, I'm not much of one to set deadlines for myself (unless something bad will happen if I don't.)

For now, the blog and jafar is bananas (because there are still a few out there who view it every now and then) will remain open in this form.

Changes

I'm told that the $2 raise I've been waiting on at work has just been approved/activated. I won't believe it until I see it on my paycheck, but should this be true, expect this website to go down permanently sometime very soon. I have new plans for this site that I didn't want to start until I was making more than minimum wage (so that I could pay for domain/server/bandwitdth), which will happily coincide with my taking a web design class and another flash class at Miracosta this coming semester. I may still keep the blog up for viewing if I feel like it, but anyone who wants to see Captain Hampton, Lobsters, or Jafar is Bananas a few more times should do it now, because no one (including myself) knows just when you'll get another chance.

Well, there goes my fun.

Apparently, people over at newgrounds are very bitter concerning flash loops (probably because of the badgers/numa numa crazes), so my entry was blammed within an hour of submission. That seems odd to me, as the few reviews I received for it were actually positive.

I've haven't posted anything in a while. Just wanted to note that I am, in fact, still alive.
Working full time, schooling 12 units, I've been busy. But I haven't forgotten about stuff. I am slowly coming out of my flash funk. So hopefully by the end of the year there will be something new here. We'll see.
