I'll get you cobra man, if it's the last thing I ever do!!!!!
So I've missed a few happenings since my last erratic posting. Since then, the so called "space mountain count" has increased to 8 (hopefully one of these upcoming days in august I'll be able to drive up there and ride it all day long, rendering my space mountain count useless), and uh, some other stuff happened. As always, I've seen plenty of movies. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is particularly noteworthy, as is March of the Penguins. I think I'd still rate Batman Begins as the best summer movie thus far, so everyone who has not yet had a chance to see it should do so as quickly as possible.
The Aquabats concert on july 22 at Soma was one of the best days I've had this summer. Too much awesome happened on that day to write everyone properly, so I'll just summarize with main points.
-8 people: Pohl, Jenny, John, Neal, Kyle, Ted, Ryan (aka steve, aka teds friend from ucla), and myself.
-trying to communicate through the back window of neals explorer to ted and ryan in the car behind us using paper signs.
-greasy mexican food in san diego.
-camping out in line an hour and a half before the doors opened (with lawn chairs and such)
-john and jenny's crazy pajama/viking outfits
-warm up group 1:the phenomenauts, complete with flashing red police lights, fire extinguisher shooters, songs like "earth is the best", bouncing around a giant earth ball (like in the rbv "one world show), and toilet paper shooters made of leaf blowers during the final song.
-warm up group 2: the epoxies; i was probably the only one in our group who enjoyed this band. they also had lasers on their guitars, AND smoke machines. can't miss there.
-THE AQUABATS CAME ON AND EVERYONE WENT NUTS
-the aquabats fought monsters
-ted and i sang along to every song, as we both new the words to everything
-mc bat commadner beat up mud boy, thinking he was a monster, but really he was a big fan who ran away, so the bat commander was so depressed he quit the band, but we brought him back by showing undying love using the circle of love, to be met by the band playing "Lovers of Loving Lover".
-a chemical bomb sing along
-lenny kravitz showed up (or, a guy dressed in black, holding a cardboard cut out of lenny kravits), but was killed shortly after by cobra man.
-cobra man killed the bat commander, but we brought him back to life by believing (and by the rest of the band playing a cover of "don't stop believing" by journey).
-moshing during "pool party" and "awesome forces"
-everyones ear drums being completely destroyed.
-in n out on the way home
Great night. I'm pretty sure everyone enjoyed themselves a lot.
OK so that was almost a week ago. Since then I've worked more, and spent a great day with laura at the beach, and another at balboa park. And a bunch of late night excursions with lona and john, and a few with ben. My sleeping pattern is all jumbled as a result, but I don't really mind. It's not affecting work.
August is almost here. Meaning so is school. But that also means that I'll soon be reunited with my beloved breakfast burritos once more.
